Someone told me that real success is discerning what God is doing and participating in it. That has been my experience. From the earliest days in my ministry, it was evident that God was doing something.

Since moving back to Memphis, I have had conversations with many people who came to Young Life at Wooddale and Germantown. I am so encouraged to hear the stories of how our Lord has worked in their lives. The same has been true about my time at Second Pres. and the college ministry at Rhodes. I remember the first day I walked in to the cafeteria, I knew that God was there and working and that it would be my privilege to participate in something of eternal consequences.

I just wrote a book that is being edited right now. It is the story of what God did in starting Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church. Anyone close to the situation will know that God did a great work, and I got to participate in it. If you think the ministry is contingent upon your work, you have another thing coming. Read 2 Kings 6: 16, a passage that has encouraged me these last few weeks.

As I continue to pray and share the opportunity and vision for what I see God doing in Quintana Roo, it becomes more exciting. God is already there and is doing something quite significant.

I’ve learned a lot over the past 48 years.  From the moment I came to Christ, I sensed a call to serve Him in the ministry.  I have been privileged to know some of the greatest people.  I have had superb training and mentoring in youth ministry, church planting, and pastoring. Not to pass along some practical wisdom born of experience would be wrong.  It would be wasting the pain and effort.

Therefore, I am developing a ministry coaching church leaders, church planters, and pastors. Great Commission Coaching will work within the U. S., Latin America, and wherever our Father will lead.

Greg Conover - Development and Training

Greg Conover joined Great Commission Coaching in July 2024.

Greg and his family were missionaries serving in Mexico where he helped plant a church and taught saturation church planting throughout Mexico and growing into all of Latin America.

Upon returning from Mexico, God called the Conovers to South Carolina and Florida where Greg pastored. After a short sabbatical, he was called to serve as Regional Director of Latin America for Third Millennium Ministries. While traveling to Monterrey, Mexico, Greg met Alan Scott and a new relationship began. Later, while ministering in the Yucatan Peninsula with Alan and Santiago Vela, the Lord began opening doors to join Alan and Great Commission Coaching while still serving as a partner with Third Millennium Ministries.

These new relationships allow Greg to use his experience in church planting, encouraging church planters and pastors, teaching and preaching, as a new staff member of Great Commission and partner with Third Millennium in the Latin America field.

Greg and his wife, Chris, live in South Carolina and have three grown children and four grandchildren with more on the way!

Juan Carlos and Ruth Bonilla – Training and Coaching

Juan Carlos and Ruth Bonilla are experienced trainers, missionaries, and leaders.  They met on the mission field in Mexico and have served together since 2005.  Juan Carlos grew up in Ecuador and received his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Erskine Theological Seminary.  The Bonillas have served for 25 years as church planters. missionaries, and mission coordinators in the United States, Mexico, and Spain.

They have two daughters, Esther Catherine and Sarah Pressly. They are excited to see how God is opening new doors for training national pastors and church planters throughout Latin America.

We believe very strongly that Juan Carlos and Ruth Bonilla are called by God to this ministry.  We also believe they are uniquely gifted to help us accomplish the mission of training, equipping, and encouraging national pastors, church planters, and church leaders throughout Latin America. - Alan B.
